Roof Replacements
Metal Roof Replacement in Sydney
New steel over your head, screwed off right so it never weeps rust again.

Metal roofs are fast to install, light on the frame and shed water beautifully -- until the steel or the fasteners give up. Old Zincalume and galvanised roofs corrode at the laps, cut edges and screw holes, and once rust takes hold it spreads. Storm damage, hail dents and lifted sheets from wind uplift are the other common triggers for replacement. We strip the failed sheeting, correct the fixing and flashing detail, and lay a new metal roof specified for where your home actually sits.
How metal roofs actually fail
Rust rarely starts in the middle of a sheet. It starts at the fasteners, the overlaps and the cut ends, where the protective coating is broken or where two sheets trap moisture between them. Old roofs fixed with the wrong screws or without proper sealing washers weep rust from every fixing, and once the sheet perforates, water tracks along the profile and drips somewhere unexpected inside.
Wind uplift is the other classic failure. If the sheets were under-fixed or the fasteners have loosened, a strong Sydney gust can lift or peel sheeting, especially at ridges and edges. A replacement lets us fix off to the correct pattern for the wind region.
Choosing the right steel and fasteners
The environment decides the material. Near the coast or in industrial areas, salt and pollutants attack under-spec steel quickly, so a marine-grade coated steel and matched fasteners are worth every cent. Inland suburbs can use a standard grade. Mixing metals -- like the wrong flashing or gutter against the sheet -- causes galvanic corrosion, so we make sure everything that touches is compatible.
Insulation, condensation and drumming noise
Bare metal roofs sweat with condensation and can drum in the rain. A replacement is the moment to fix that. We install anti-condensation blanket insulation under the new sheeting, which stops the underside dripping on cold mornings, cuts heat coming through in summer, and softens rain noise. Done during the re-roof, it costs a fraction of retrofitting later.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Zincalume and Colorbond for a replacement?
Zincalume is the bare metallic-coated steel; Colorbond is Zincalume with a baked-on colour coating. Both are steel roofs. Colorbond gives you colour choice and a little extra surface protection, while Zincalume shows a natural silver finish. We can quote either depending on the look and budget you want.
Why does my metal roof drip on the inside on cold mornings?
That is condensation, not a leak. Warm moist air inside meets the cold underside of bare steel and forms droplets. Installing anti-condensation blanket insulation under the new sheeting during replacement fixes it, and also reduces heat gain and rain noise at the same time.
Can you replace just the rusted sheets instead of the whole roof?
If the corrosion is isolated, yes -- that is re-sheeting. But if the fasteners and laps are failing across the roof, replacing a few sheets just delays the inevitable. We assess the whole roof and recommend replacement only when patching would be throwing good money after bad.
Will a new metal roof be noisy in the rain?
Not if it is insulated. The drumming most people remember comes from bare, uninsulated sheeting on old sheds. With anti-condensation blanket and proper sarking under a new roof, rain noise is much softer -- most clients are surprised how quiet a modern metal roof is.
