Storm Damage
Storm-Damaged Gutter Repairs & Replacement
When gutters fail, water goes straight into your eaves and walls -- we get them carrying again.

Gutters take a hammering in a storm. Debris and hail block them, torrential rain overwhelms them, and wind can peel them clean off the fascia. Once a gutter cannot carry water away, it spills over the back edge into your eaves, soaks the fascia and can track down inside the wall cavity. Storm gutter work is about restoring the whole drainage path, not just straightening a dent. We check gutters, brackets, downpipes and the fascia behind them, then repair or replace whatever is stopping water from getting away cleanly.
Why storms overwhelm guttering
Three things happen in a big Sydney storm. First, leaves, twigs and hail flush into the gutter and jam the downpipe outlets, so water backs up and overflows. Second, the sheer volume of rain in a short burst can exceed what an older or undersized gutter can carry, especially on a large roof feeding few downpipes. Third, hail dents the gutter floor and wind flexes it, opening up joints and pulling brackets loose. Often it is a combination, which is why we look at the whole run rather than the one spot you noticed dripping.
Refit, reseal or replace
Minor damage we repair on the spot: re-securing brackets, refitting the gutter to the correct fall so water runs to the outlets, and resealing failed joints and corners with the right sealant rather than a smear that lets go in a month. Where a section has been torn off, crushed by a branch or corroded at a leaking joint, replacement of that run is the honest fix. We match profile and colour so it does not look patched, and we make sure downpipes and the connection to stormwater are clear and doing their job.
Protecting the fascia and eaves
The real cost of a failed gutter is what it does to the timber behind it. Overflowing water rots fascia boards and eaves linings and can lift roof edges. When we pull a damaged gutter we inspect the fascia, treat or replace rotted sections, and refit so the new gutter sits tight and drains properly. Getting the fall and the outlet sizing right is what stops the overflow happening again in the next downpour.

Frequently Asked Questions
My gutter overflows in heavy rain but looks fine -- why?
Usually it is a blocked downpipe outlet or the gutter has lost its fall, so water pools instead of running to the outlet. Sometimes the gutter is simply undersized for the roof area feeding it. We find the actual cause rather than assume, because clearing a blockage will not help if the real issue is fall or capacity.
Can you match my existing gutter profile and colour?
In most cases yes. Common Australian gutter profiles and Colorbond colours are readily available, so a replaced run blends in. Very old or unusual profiles can be harder to match exactly, and we will tell you up front if a section will look slightly different so you can decide how much to replace.
Should I get gutter guard after storm damage?
It can help reduce leaf and debris blockages, which are a big cause of storm overflow, but it is not a cure-all and poor-quality guard can trap debris on top and make things worse. We give you an honest view on whether it suits your roof and surrounding trees before you spend money on it.
Is gutter damage covered by storm insurance?
Storm-related damage such as gutters torn off by wind or crushed by a branch is commonly covered, while gradual corrosion or blockage from long-term neglect usually is not. We document the storm cause and provide a report, and we are upfront if part of the damage looks like wear and tear rather than the storm.
